Below are quick answers to some of the most common questions.
Do I need a credit card?
Having a credit card is a common requirement for renting a car, as it serves as a form of payment and provides the car rental company with a way to secure funds in the event of damage or additional charges, such as fuel, tolls, or late fees.
Debit cards are sometimes accepted, but may come with additional restrictions or requirements, such as a higher minimum age for the person renting or additional insurance coverage. It is essential to check with the car rental company to understand their policies and payment requirements.

What documents are required to pick up a rental car?
- Driving License: You must have a valid driving license. In most cases, an international driving license is required if your local license is not in the language of the rental country.
- Credit or Debit Card: A major credit card in the name of the primary driver is usually required. The credit card is used for security purposes and to cover any additional charges such as fuel, tolls or damages.
- Booking confirmation: It is good practice to have a copy of your booking confirmation, printed or electronic, to make available to the rental company.
- ID: We will need your passport or ID card in original.
- Age requirement: Make sure you meet the minimum age requirements for renting a car. Rental companies usually require renters to be at least 23 years old and have at least 2 years of experience, although the minimum age can vary by location and car category.
- Additional Drivers: If you plan to have additional drivers, they will also need to present their driver’s licenses and may be required to meet age and other conditions set by the rental company.
- Voucher or prepaid rental agreement: If you made the reservation through a third-party booking platform or received a voucher, have this document ready.
- Payment method: Even if you plan to use a credit card, it’s a good idea to have some cash or a debit card on you for incidentals or expenses that may not accept credit cards.

What is included in the rental rates?
- Base rate: This is the cost of renting the car for a specific period, usually calculated on a daily or weekly basis.
- Mileage: Most rental agreements include a certain number of free miles or kilometers per day. If you exceed this limit, you may be charged an additional fee for each additional mile or kilometer traveled.
- Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) or Loss and Damage Waiver (LDW): This is an optional insurance that covers the cost of repairing or replacing your rental car if it is damaged or stolen. If you decline this insurance and the car is damaged during the rental period, you may be responsible for the repair or replacement costs up to the full value of the car.
- Third Party Liability Insurance: Car rental companies usually offer third party liability insurance, as required by law. This insurance protects you if, while driving your rental car, you cause damage to someone else’s property or injure someone else.
- Taxes and Fees: Rental rates often include various taxes, surcharges, and fees, which can include airport taxes, facility fees, and local taxes. These can significantly increase the total cost of the rental.
- Fuel: Rental cars are usually provided with a full tank of gas and you are expected to return the car with a full tank. If you return the car with less fuel, you may be charged a higher refueling fee.
- Additional Driver: If you wish to add additional drivers to your rental agreement, there may be a daily fee for each additional driver.
- Extras: Rental companies offer various extras, such as GPS navigation systems, child car seats, and additional insurance. These extras come with additional fees.
- Late Return Fees: Returning the car later than the agreed upon time may result in additional fees. Be sure to check your rental agreement for the specific late return policy.
- Tolls and Traffic Violations: You are responsible for paying any tolls, parking fines or traffic violations during the rental period. The rental company may charge administrative fees for processing these fees on your behalf even after the rental agreement has been completed.
